High Intensity Interval Training – Fast & Effective Way To Burn Fat
By: Matt Ramlogan
Looking for an effective way to burn fat and grow lean muscle? Are you tired of running on the treadmill 4 days a week for 45 minutes? Sounds like a tacky infomercial. But in reality, High Intensity Interval Training is an effective way to exercise on any fitness level and it can be done within 9 – 20 minutes.
The basis of this workout uses a 2:1 ratio of exercise to rest periods. For example, you will perform jumping jacks at the highest intensity possible for 30 seconds then rest for 15 seconds. This can be done within 15 minutes and can seriously improve your VO2 max, which is the maximum amount of oxygen your lungs can hold. This is a great form of exercise because it requires 10 – 20 minutes of your time and you have no excuse to travel to the gym to workout because the exercise can be done with your bodyweight. In short, you do as many reps per exercise at the highest intensity as you can then rest for a short period then do it again for 6 – 8 sets.
But remember, with any form of exercise whether it be resistance training or cardio, always warm up and practice good nutrition!
